This is a gripping story from the start with a great sense of place and characters. I loved the references to Sherlock throughout. Highly recommended and I look forward to the writer creating more for the characters of Jeffries and Smith!
Stephen Marson’s “The Girl on the Tram” has captured me from the start. Maybe it’s because i am familiar with the location of the events, but Marson’s straightforward yet expressive writing definitely helps set the scene and draw readers in.
Carrie’s curious nature (and slight obsession with Sherlock Holmes) drags her into all sorts of situations, including a murder investigation.
The gradual introduction of characters allows the story to unfold naturally which just makes the story easy to read without unnecessary, boring parts. I must say, Detective Jeffries and Constable Smith are really entertaining, and Jeffries made me eat a lot of bacon sandwiches while reading this book.
The main character, Carrie, is really the one that drives the story forward throughout the conflicts and other events. It’s very refreshing to have this strong female lead in a story that’s set in the 1900s.
I tried to keep this review spoiler free but wait until the last page, you will want a sequel!
Great read!
